About Ceilings Inc.

Tom Clerkin Sr.

Tom began his construction career by graduating from the Carpenter’s four-year apprenticeship program. After becoming a carpenter foreman, he was promoted to Road Superintendent by then Ceilings Inc. Owner Ray Cannon. In addition to operational control of the workforce, Tom assumed an estimating/project management role and eventually acquired a 50% interest in the business with co- owner and business partner Geoff Furtaw.

Tom is a strong advocate of Union Construction. While on the Interior Finish Contractors Association’s (IFCA) Board of Directors, a position he held for more than 20 years, he actively participated in negotiating collective bargaining agreements with our Union partners. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Finishing Contractors Association International (FCA), the Signatory Wall and Ceiling Contractor Alliance (SWACCA) and is an emeritus member of IFCA’s board of director’s where he tirelessly promotes Union Construction and advises others in the industry.

Geoff Furtaw

With Civil Engineering degrees from both Lehigh and Drexel Universities, Geoff’s career path closely resembles that of his late father Charles who co-owned and operated the Philadelphia based John B Kelly Company. The lessons learned from being the son of a contractor and the “Engineering Method” espoused in Engineering School gave Geoff the knowledge and perspective to be a careful estimator and conservative business manager. Geoff is currently on IFCA’s Board of Directors, is the association’s current Vice President and serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of the Wall and Ceilings Industry (AWCI). In addition, Geoff is a member of IFCA’s Legislative Committee which advocates for laws that promote favorable treatment of subcontractors in the construction industry.

Tom Clerkin Jr.

Having been exposed through his father to commercial construction at an early age and with a Business Management degree from St. Joseph’s University, Tom’s background and work ethic have uniquely positioned him to become a thoughtful and productive estimator. In addition, the technical skills he developed while working at Vanguard make him an effective Project Manager both in the field and in the Office. Tom is currently the Chair of the Emerging Leaders Group for the Finishing Contractors Association International (FCA).
